As one of the nine sections of UCLG World Organization, which represents more than 100 years of experience in building cooperation among local governments and gathering the local governments of the world under one roof, United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA) works to ensure the effective representation of local governments at international platforms, establish strong governance structures and follow up the localization of global agendas in the MEWA region.
Position: Editor and Translator (English-Turkish)
Department: Relations with International Organizations
Location: Sultanahmet, Istanbul / Türkiye
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Translation and Interpreting, English Language and Literature, and relevant departments,
- 1-3 years' work experience as Translator, Interpreter, or in a similar role,
- Excellent proofreading skills content and grammar-wise,
- Familiarity with SDL Trados preferred.
Job Description:
- Translate and edit documents and publications from English into Turkish and vice versa,
- Proofread translated texts for content and grammar,
- Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and web sites to check the quality of translation and accuracy of terms, in alignment with maintaining the institutional language,
- Draft English documents and official correspondences when required,
- Actively get involved in departmental projects and tasks.
