The expected candidates will conduct research on novel interaction techniques for virtual environments, applications for remote training systems and simulators, user experience in virtual environments, technical limitations of the VR/AR hardware and software, Human-AI interaction in immersive environments, stereo deficiencies in head-mounted displays, eye-tracking, rehabilitation with immersive headsets, and remote collaboration. The research requires combining technical skills with an understanding of cognitive psychology. Students will develop applications and systems for the community and industry.
The students will be supervised by Anil Ufuk Batmaz and will have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers around the world in addition to being a part of ongoing projects.
Financial support will be provided for qualified candidates.
Required Qualifications:
• Have a background in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field,
• Experience in developing applications/games with game engines, such as Unity or Unreal Engine,
• Excellent communication skills,
• English language proficiency,
• Ability to work as a part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with developing apps for VR/AR Head Mounted Displays (HMDs), such as Oculus Quest 2, HTC Vive Pro or HoloLens,
• Experiment design,
• Knowledge of computer graphics,
• Quantitative skills or interest in developing skills in data analysis for user studies,
• Significant scientific contributions and publications.
